EXPERIMENT

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

The significance of the study can be viewed along three strands: policy, practice and research.

  1. Implication for Policy: It is the expectation that the findings and recommendations can assist policy formulators to address inequality, unpaid labor and domestic work in the formulation and implementation of social, fiscal and economic policies.

  2. Implication for Social-Media: As explained above, one of the key drivers of information determination among millennials, generation Z, generation Alpha and generation X is social media. The excerpts of the video experiment make it easy to be shared among different generations to improve collective social learning for positive socioeconomic social change.

  3. Implication for Research: The study will also contribute to the body of knowledge on the three main fronts of unpaid care and domestic work in Ghana. Primarily, to present the influencers, dynamism, complexities of unpaid care and domestic work through the video experiment. The second part is to highlight the challenges faced by women and girls when there is a nonperformance of unpaid care and domestic work and the third part is to identify the perception of guardians, parents, peers, religious leaders, cultural leaders, policy formulators teachers and the public bodies that have direct and indirect influence on the performance of unpaid care and domestic work by women and girls.

  4. Implication for Global Performance of Real Income: The revelation of the number of unpaid workers and consequent loss in earning capacity would therefore support policy and enhance the case for capacity development for unpaid workers as a nation.
